archaeo.social is a collective organisation constituted of users of its services. We aim to make all significant governance decisions—including but not limited to changes to the infrastructure, finances, policies, and future direction of the collective—based on the consensus of the broadest possible set of users. Any user in good standing may make proposals or initiate discussions on these matters at any time.
Administration group
Day-to-day operation of services, including technical maintenance, configuration, and moderation, is delegated to the administration group. The administration group may hold and assign privileged access to collective infrastructure and services as necessary to carry out its duties. It is also responsible for initiating collective decision-making on pressing issues, encouraging broad participation in governance discussions (whether initatied by them or others), and implementing any resulting consensus.
The administration group may appoint officers with special responsibility from amongst its members. Currently there are two officer positions: the lead administrator and the treasurer. The lead administrator is responsible for ensuring that the administration group is fulfilling its duties to the collective and for holding any privileged access or information which, for logistical or security reasons, be more widely shared (e.g. bank account details). The lead administrator and treasurer are jointly responsible for ensuring the sound finances of the collective. The treasurer is responsible for making timely and transparent reports on the collective’s finances available to users.
